Atrium is a full service community association management firm based in Englewood, Florida. The company was founded in 2005 by Brian Cartland, CAM; and Julia Cartland, CAM, CPA, to meet the growing need for competent association management services in the Englewood, Cape Haze, Boca Grande area. Atrium is focused on providing the best customer service possible to its condominium and home owner association clients.
Julia is also a partner in Mercier and Cartland—an accounting firm that has been providing bookkeeping and accounting services for condominium associations and small businesses in the Englewood area for over 20 years. According to Julia, “So many of the associations that we were doing tax work for were receiving association services from outside the area or they were forced to self-manage. There were few choices available in Englewood.”
Julia grew up in Englewood. She met Brian when they both attended Florida State University. Brian is originally from Chicago, but moved to the Fort Myers area with his family when he was in elementary school. After college, Julia administered large trusts, estates and guardianships with a private bank in the Tampa Bay area. “I handled large real estate portfolios and dealt with complex administrative issues, which is similar to association management.” Brian ran tax incentive programs for the state of Florida and worked with local economic development programs. “Coordinating multiple projects at once and serving as staff to several boards of directors and committees has helped in the administration of associations.”
When they aren’t working, they are busy with the activities of their four children. “As our children got older, we knew we wanted to move back home,” Julia says. “We moved back to Englewood in 2003 and got involved in many community activities.” Their children range from elementary school to college. The kids are active in sports and church activities. Julia is also on the YMCA Advisory Board, Englewood Hospital Board, and serves in several roles at Englewood United Methodist Church. Brian helps coach Little League, chairs the Englewood Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee and is also active at Englewood United Methodist Church.
